Woodworm can cause serious damage to structural timbers. The beetle lay their eggs in open joints and crevices within the timber, the eggs hatch into larvae (woodworm), the worm bore through the wood which will weaken and damage the structure.
If woodworm infestation goes unnoticed for a long period this can have an incredibly detrimental effect on the structure of the property.
There are many different types of beetle that can cause structural problems within buildings; Death Watch beetle, Wood Weevil and the common furniture beetle. The majority of woodworm infestation is caused by damp timbers, lack of sub-floor ventilation or water ingress making the timbers more susceptible to attack.
Anglian Preservation offer a range of woodworm and wood boring insect treatments which are effective in the prevention and eradication of the infestation. The treatment stops the cycle of infestation and the worm emerge sterile and die. Part of our service is a survey, report and estimate carried out by our qualified surveyor. In the event of wood which has been heavily infected we will remove and replace with pretreated timbers.
Our qualified surveyor will inspect the property and provide a detailed report, suggested treatment and estimate of costs.
